On Sunday March 19th, the Wild Wescotts 4-H club met at the Grommesch Family home in Eagan for a regular meeting and to do our planned activity, Paint by Numbers with special guest crafter-extraordinaire Rebecca Siemers.
Our meeting was called to order at 2:11pm by Eldora Grommesch. We began with the pledge of allegiance and the 4-H pledge. Following the pledges, roll call was taken and participants shared their spring break plans. There were 15 youth members who responded to roll call and 12 adults present.
During old business, members were reminded of where to find minutes and how to check if they were enrolled in 4-H. A table with hand-outs was present to provide the club roster, links to our online information, and more.
During new business, there was a conversation about the April activity. The annual plan included an operational farm tour in April, and no planned activity in June. A motion was raised by Braxton to change the April meeting to a "Project Day" and ADD a meeting to June for the operational farm tour. The motion was seconded by Caden. The club discussed the framework for project day and answered questions. Following discussion, a vote was taken and the motion carried. The online calendar was updated with the schedule change and additional meeting in June. Also, within new business the youth leadership team shared that the Wild Wescotts members can order Wild Wescotts merchandise online. This is completely optional. We have added an online store with our logo pre-loaded to make the process easy. Members can use any merchandise provider that they like and use the logo that is available within our club documents.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn by Jameson with a second by Lahkia, with the business meeting ending at 2:25pm.
Following the business meeting, members lined up and selected acrylic paint-by-numbers canvases. There were more than 30 to choose from and everyone (including parents) were invited to move to the painting hall. Our guest, Rebecca Siemers, provided an overview with tips and tricks for painting. The club got to work painting and had a really great time. During the painting activity, Abby Grommesch surveyed the room seeking input for the April Project Day. People had a lot of great ideas!
Some younger members got to a good stopping point on their paintings, and transitioned to play time with toys, legos, marbles, etc. All participants took their work home and we're excited to see some of their finished work in the County Fair this year!
