Minutes 9/25/2022 - Kickoff!

On Sunday Sept 25th, the Wild Wescotts 4-H club kicked of the 2022-2023 program year! Harrison kicked off the evening with a fire-building demonstration.

The meeting of the Wild Wescotts 4-H Club was called to order by Eldora at 4:08pm. Following pledges, roll call was taken. Seventeen youth and 13 adults were present and shared their name, grades, and favorite fall activities.

Because this was the first meeting of the program year, there were no prior meeting minutes reviewed.

Old Business:

• The Youth Leadership Team (Eldora, Harrison, and Olive) provided information about 4-H and the Wild Wescotts club (available in our google docs here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/15pzBYpXkLnGB34wbgcFjYRtgtTbRkvK1/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=113159670478191168681&rtpof=true&sd=true

• The club discussed some of their favorite 4-H and Wild Wescotts activities. Some highlights included working in the Horseless Horse project, touring behind the scenes at the International Airport (hosted by Delta Airlines), enjoying the State Fair Encampments, and Dogsledding (to name a few)

• Eldora provided a refresher on Roberts Rules of orders, explaining how we make decisions.

  • When a decision is needed, someone will make a motion.

  • The motion needs someone to second the motion.

  • There is time for discussions.

  • Then, there is voting

  • If the motion passes, then the decision is made!

New Business:

• The Wild Wescotts Annual Plan was proposed as follows, using the same framework as prior years. In general, Wild Wescotts plans to meet on a monthly basis, and focus on providing hands-on educational opportunities. Specific information about the meeting time and activities will be available to members on the Wild Wescotts Calendar (https://wildwescotts.wixsite.com/eagan/calendar) and through email communication. A motion was raised and seconded to approve the annual plan. After discussion, a vote was taken resulting in an approved annual plan.
