On September 24, 2023, at 4:00pm, the Wild Wescotts 4-H club gathered at Northview Park (Eagan) for their 2023-2024 Program Kickoff! We started the afternoon with an introduction and ice breaker, lead by the Youth Leadership Team. The club was separated into 2 groups and they completed a balloon scavenger hunt. Following the scavenger hunt, the youth members had a 5 minute play break at the park.
At 4:27pm, Harrison Grommesch called the meeting to order. The club said the pledge of allegiance and the 4-H pledge.
Roll call was answered by 24 youth and their parents. New and returning members answered roll call by sharing some of the things that they are looking forward to for this year. Many people mentioned that they were looking forward to the aerospace opportunity at the international airport.
There was no August meeting, but all prior meeting minutes are available on the club website.
Old Business included a word of congratulations for all members who participated in the County and State Fairs.
A new agenda segment "Project Spotlight" was introduced. A Project Spotlight is an opportunity for youth to present information & share learning in one of the 4-H project areas. It can be a brief demonstration, a brief activity, or simply sharing progress on one of your exhibits. If you would like to lead a project spotlight, please sign up! Today's Project Spotlight was presented by Braxton, who shared information in the Photography project area.
New Business included a review of the Annual Plan Proposal. All members were able to review the proposal and discuss. A motion was made to approve the annual plan, which was seconded and passed unanimously. As a result, the club website will be updated with the annual plan. Members understand that if we need to make adjustments, those will be raised to the club for discussion and vote.
All families were provided with additional information pertaining to the club, including:
An opportunity to review the Club Charter/Bylaws
An opportunity to validate, add, or change email address
An opportunity to sign-up for apparel purchase
An invitation to volunteer (as a screened adult)
An invitation to join the Youth Leadership Team (as a member in grade 6+)
A reminder to enroll in 4-H online.
There was a motion to adjourn the meeting, which was seconded and passed, closing the meeting at 4:47pm.
The next Wild Wescotts session is planned for October where we will visit an Automated Warehouse! More details to come, and will be distributed to our email mailing list.
